
Segment 1 Class
Segment 1 driver education is offered before the driver begins supervised driving and requires a minimum of 24 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) instruction, and 4 hours of observation time with a certified Michigan Driver Education Instructor. A score of at least 70% on the Segment 1 state exam is required to pass the course. Minimum age to begin driver education: 14 years and 8 month.

Segment 2 Class
Segment 2 includes a minimum of six (6) hours of classroom instruction. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) instruction NOT part of the Segment 2 Class. A score of at least 70% on the Segment 2 state exam is required to pass the course.
To register for Segment 2, you must have received your Level 1 License and have held it for at least three (3) consecutive months from the issue date.
You must present a driving log of at least 30 hours of supervised driving time by a parent or legal guardian (including a minimum of 2 hours at night).

Auto Road Test
For All Payment is required in order to schedule an Auto Road Test (or driving skills test). Applicant must sign a contractual agreement. Testing appointment is based on availability.
For Teens To schedule a road test for minors (under age 18), you will need:
- Michigan Graduated Driver'Driver's License # (GDL#)
- Segment 2 Certificate
- Date of Birth
- Contract with Payment
- Must held GDL for a minimum of 6 months
For Adults To schedule a road test for adults (over age 18) you will need:
- Temporary Instruction Permit Number (T.I.P.#)
- Date of Birth
- Signed Contract and Payment

Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) Instruction
Private Lessons for individuals may be arranged on a case-by-case basis, require a contractual agreement, and are based on availability. A two (2) hour minimum is required for the initial lesson. Aftr the initial session, the regular fee of $60/hour applies per scheduled session. Payment is required to schedule a private driving lesson..
